KUWAIT CITY, November 2: Turkey’s ambassador to Kuwait, Tuba Nur Sonmez, has affirmed that relations between his country and Kuwait have reached an ideal level, Al-Qabas daily reports. Sonmez made the statement during the celebration organized by the Turkish Embassy recently on the occasion of the National Day and the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.
The event was attended by Minister of Justice and Awqaf and Minister of State for Integrity Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Majed and a group of diplomats. She welcomed the strong cooperation between Turkey and Kuwait in the fields of tourism, culture, trade, economy and education, among others; the affirmation of this cooperation continues to grow stronger. She affirmed that Kuwait is one of the countries that sends most of its citizens to Turkey for tourism, pointing out that the volume of trade between the two countries is increasing. She added that Kuwaitis are among the biggest buyers of foreign goods in Turkey. “There are still ample opportunities for cooperation ahead of us. Therefore, as the new Turkish Ambassador, I will try to deepen our relations with Kuwait in all areas. We are also trying to strengthen multidimensional cooperation in vital areas; such as the defense industry, technology, aviation, health and education,” she concluded.
The Turkish Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception to mark the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on Sunday at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Turkey’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Tuba Nur Sonmez, began by welcoming the participants. Expressing her pride in Turkey’s achievements, she said her country had undergone comprehensive reforms, which transformed it into a democratic and modern nation.
Sonmez hailed Turkey-Kuwait relations under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. She said Turkey’s strong foreign policies guarantee peace and development for all countries in the region. The ambassador praised the cooperation with Kuwait in all fields, especially tourism and investment, as dozens of Kuwaitis visit Turkey for leisure and to buy real estate. The event brought together diplomats, journalists, Turkish residents and other guests.
