Iraqi Shia politician warns against Turkey’s plan to occupy Iraq

According to the ‘almaalomah’ news site, Asaib Ahl al-Haq (AAH) Secretary General Qais al-Khazali made the comments during a meeting with tribal leaders in the holy city of Najaf.

“Turks have long dreamed of the ‘province of Mosul’, which includes parts of Iraqi Kurdistan and Kirkuk. Turkey is trying to occupy part of Iraq in 2023, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the so-called treaty of Lausanne.”

“Today, Turkish forces have around 66 military bases in Iraq, and Ankara is using the PKK as a cover to carry out military action in Iraq. Turkish forces are advancing and establishing military positions in Iraq on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of the Treaty of Lausanne, signed in 1923, is approaching and preparing to occupy parts of Iraq in 2023,” added the Iraqi Shia politician.

Highlighting the plot to normalize relations with the Israeli regime, al-Khazali said that “Iraq is the only obstacle to normalization in the region and in the world, and in Iraq, the Hashd Shaabi (PMU) is the only obstacle to the normalization plot. “

He also warned against attempts to undermine Iraq’s security in the form of protests in the country as well as armed groups that are trained in Erbil.
